After moving to the Upstate in 2006 from the San Francisco Bay area, I join UCREIA to network with local real estate experts.  I believe that being a full time real estate investor is more than owning, financing, rehabbing and managing properties; it is more about continuous learning, smart deal making, network building, and having a tolerance for risk.  With these skills, I can stay on top of our real estate portfolio and continue to watch the market for profitable opportunities.

In addition to investing in real estate, I have over 20 years of leadership experience in finance and management, holding executive positions in both private and public firms. I founded my first company in 1994 and most recently served as President of Access Funding Group International, an early-stage professional services consulting firm that invested and facilitated in the launch of software start up, Golden Parachute.  At Golden Parachute, I served on the Board and as their Chief Strategy Officer, responsible for defining the corporate strategy designed to leverage customer-focus market opportunities as well as to assist in the venture investment efforts.

I received my MBA in Finance from California State University and I have served on several boards of both private for-profit and nonprofit organizations.  As an angel investor, I was instrumental in the growth of the International Angel Investors Institute (IAI).  In IAI, I served as the Co-Chairman of the Membership Committee, founding member of IAI’s Critique Panel Program, member of the Treasury and Financial Committee, and founding member of IAI, Hong Kong.  I also served on the Board of Advisors of the Silicon Valley Chapter of National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).

 Karla Kuhn
Director of Education

I’ve been interested in real estate since 1991.  My husband and I have enjoyed rehabbing properties and buying to hold as rentals.  We are learning about wholesaling, and other types of investing and plan to reduce the rehabbing projects.  I am full time in real estate investing now for the past 3 years.  I got involved in the early stages of Upstate CREIA’s existence (3rd meeting, I think, 3 1/2 years ago) and almost immediately became a volunteer and board member.  I enjoy the networking as much as any part of this.  I’ve learned so much from other members and speakers.
