NOTE: Contact the focus group leader to verify schedule and locations since they do change from time to time.  You can also join the yahoo groups list for each of the groups as available to keep up to date on location and topics covered at the meetings. 

Focus groups are FREE for UCREIA members and all area REIA members. The first meeting is free to Guests; thereafter, the Guest fee is $10 per meeting per person.

NOTE – some venues expect attendees to purchase food and to leave a tip for servers, if appropriate.

Advanced Investor Focus Group – Each month there will be a different topic. The presentation and discussion is geared to a more in-depth study of real estate related topics for intermediate to advanced investors. Usually, the presentation is by local professionals, such as lawyers, accountants, appraisers, business leaders, consultants, etc.

Meets: Thursday after the Monday Upstate CREIA monthly meeting 11:30am (lunch), 12:00 (noon) – 1:00pm at Tommy ‘s Country Ham House Greenville, 214 Rutherford St., Greenville, SC 29609 (PH: 864-242-6099). (Driving Directions). FYI, Tommy’s restaurant expects attendees to buy food and to leave a tip for servers.

Beginners Focus Group – This group is for someone just getting started in real estate investing, thinking about getting into real estate investing or just needs a refresher. The class is taught once or twice a year depending on demand. For 2012, the next class is scheduled for February 25 at the Embassy Suites. Additional information will be emailed to the Yahoo! Groups list.

Goals Accountability Focus Group - Purpose is establishing specific goals and actions, the key to achieving success, and holding oneself accountable to accomplishing these goals. The group is designed to allow members to apply members to apply peer pressure upon themselves, to provide a positive forum, and to allow for feedback from like-minded individuals.

Focus group leader, Larry Scarborough, is a former CEO for a multi-million dollar electronics manufacturer and management consultant to Fortune 1000 companies. He is also co-founder of Elder Care Consulting, Inc.

Meets: Last Tuesday of every month, meeting starts at 11:15am to 12:00pm. Location – Earth Fare, 3620 Pelham Rd (near I-85 & Pelham Rd), Greenville, SC 29615. FYI – Earth Fare expects attendees to buy lunch. ).

Rental Focus Group – Discusses issues of interest to landlords, tenants and property managers, including landlord/tenant law, acquisition and/or lease of rental properties, residential codes, rental announcements, property taxation, grants and other sources of funds for investing in rental property, insurance options, security and theft of personal property related to rentals. Each month there is a different topic.

Wholesale Focus Group - Teaches techniques to make money in real estate with very little or no money up front with very little or no risk.  For questions, please contact group leader below.  Email reminders will be sent out notifying everyone of any changes as they occur.

Meets: The meeting is the Friday immediately following the monthly UCREIA meeting (typically the 3rd, sometimes the 4th Friday),  from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at DHP Real Estate, 44 St. Mark Rd., Taylors, SC  29687 (Driving directions)

Women Investor Focus Group – Provides a place for women investors, at all levels of experience, to come together for purposes of networking. Share experience and advice on pressing real estate investing issues. Join us and offer support, resources, properties, and tips to other like-minded women.

Meets:  The group meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 9:00 am to 10:00am at Panera Bread, 1125 Woodruff Rd, Greenville (In the Shoppes of Greenridge) (Driving directions) FYI, please consider purchasing some food.
